Why Choose a Childminder?

There are many benefits of choosing a childminder to look after your little ones, some which are listed below:

  • One-on-one attention

Because childminders are restricted by the amount of children they can have in their care at one time (in England this is no more than six children under eight years old) it means a child will be part of a smaller group and therefore more likely to receive the one-on-one attention required to help their development.

  • Close relationships

A higher level of trust can also be built up between a child and their childminder. After all, they’ll spend a significant amount of time together, and the child will come to rely upon their minder for care, love and attention. This has a knock-on effect as the child is more likely to engage in activities and learn new skills if the person teaching them is someone they trust.

  • One source of care

In a nursery environment, there’s a chance multiple staff members will be interacting with one child, which means the same routines and personal relationships are less likely to develop. With childminders, parents can decide exactly who will be overseeing the care of their child, rather than it being one of several people at any given time.

  • Home-from-home environment

Spending a lot of time within a home environment is beneficial to children, with the home-from-home feeling providing a sense of comfort. Childminders can also take children away from the home more easily for activities and days out, not bound by the restrictions faced by nurseries.

  • Flexibility

Childminders can also offer a certain level of flexibility to help cover unusual working hours, which nurseries with standard opening hours can’t always provide. This means parents can arrange for childcare in the case of an emergency or unforeseen circumstances.
